About 40 people in 16 states have become sick because of tainted cantaloupes from Honduras. Now, the melons are being reported and the Food and Drug Administration is investigating this issue.

Now, just a little comment:
the word "news" is a little bit tricky in English. It is UNCOUNTABLE and therefore always SINGULAR. If you want to talk about "una notícia" you can't say "a new, or a news", you must use "a piece of news" or "an item of news" instead.
